Kia ora! My name is Caitlin, and I am 21 years old. I am originally from Nelson and moved to Christchurch to study a Bachelor of Science majoring in Biological Sciences which I completed in June 2021. Currently I am waiting to be accepted into the New Zealand Certificate of Captive Animal Management which will commence in February 2022, with the ambition of becoming a zookeeper.

I have done a lot of babysitting for ages ranging from 2 – 13, and for the last 5 years have been a respite time carer for a family with an autistic son (10) and his younger sister (7). On top of this, I have worked for a company who run holiday/before school/after school programmes and had responsibilities including school drop offs and pick-ups, managing staff on site, interacting with parents and caregivers, transporting children to and from activities such as swimming, beach days, games at the park, and grooming ponies. Watching kids learn and grow is what I love most about caring for them, and it is a privilege to be involved in shaping a young person’s life.

Although I have not directly babysat for a child younger than 2, I am confident that I would be perfectly capable of this. I have friends and cousins with kids this young who I have spent lots of time with and helped look after with the parents.

I look forward to meeting you!
